Angel Luis Quinones was born in Rio Piedras,
Puerto Rico to Pedro and Catalina Quinones on Sept. 15,
1951. At the young age of 2, Angel aka "Lui" moved to East
Harlem and later to downtown New York City. He later
attended NYC and New Jersey public school systems.
Angel was a laborer for the coalition in Brooklyn, where he
later lived, and worked in the construction field for several
years. While in Brooklyn, his love of Latin music would
flourish and he would often play the congas in Prospect
Park with lifelong friends. Thereafter, he obtained a
Superintendent job in Jersey City and later became an
employee of the NJ Turnpike where he remained until he
became Retired.
Angel Luis leaves behind his wife of thirty-one
years, Luz Marie Quinones; three children, Deanna, Tim,
and Jose Alejandro; six grandchildren; three sisters, Esther
Jean Jacques, Josephine Quinones Crawford, Noemi
Fuscaldo; one brother, Hector M. Quinones; two brothers
-in-law, Fred Jean-Jacques and Mark Fuscaldo; one sister-in
-law Maryellen Quinones, two daughter-in-law; Girsul
Smith and Amanda Quinones; and a host of nephews and
nieces which all loved him immensely.
Angel was an avid music lover and touched many
people's lives over the years. He was a true Brooklynite in
that he kept things real and told things the way he felt
them. He was always humoristic with a playful twist on
most words and a gentle heart that would help people
whenever and wherever he could. These characteristics
made him the husband, man, brother, father, uncle, and
friend that we all love and celebrate today. Angel will
forever be in our hearts.
