Tony departed this life at his home on December 8, 2017. He was a
resident of Selma, North Carolina. He was born the son of Mary E. Dobbin and
the late William Rudolph Jones on June 22, 1962 and was raised by the late
Rudolph E. Dobbin as his own. He was the grandson of Alma S. Pone and the
late Aljunius Pone and the late Norvell and Charity Jones. He was preceded in
death by a sister, Gevankco Jones Flagg.
Blessed with a beautiful voice, at a young age, Tony found the Lord and
discovered a love for music. He became a member of Howell's Chapel Church of
Christ where he sang in many choirs/groups such as the Mighty Pearls, Youth
Assembly Mass Choir, and the Junior Choir Reunion Choir. Tony loved to sing
everywhere he would go, and even if he was partying, he was singing the gospel.
He attended Smithfield-Selma Sr. High with the class of 1981 where he
was a proud member of the NJROTC. Tony participated in so many ROTC
competitions and received so many awards for his well-known dance moves and
routines of spinning, turning flips, and tossing his gun in the air all while
blindfolded. Tony's superior skills led Smithfield-Selma Sr. High's NJROTC
squad to numerous First Place wins.
A jack-of-all-trades, Tony worked for many years with McClung's
Electrical and Plumbing Service; where he became an expert in the electrical and
plumbing field.
Affectionately known for his huge smile, unconditional love for people,
beautiful voice, and famous "Michael Jackson" dance moves, Tony lived his life
to the fullest; just as he wanted to.
