Mrs. Betty Mitchell, 71, of Clayton, NC died on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Smithfield Manor in Smithfield, NC.
"And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! For
then I would fly away and be at rest." Psalms 55:6
Betty Rose Mitchell was born to the late
McKinley & Roberta Mitchell in Clayton, North Carolina
on August 15, 1942.
She was educated through the Johnston County
Public School System. She graduated from Cooper High
School in 1960. After graduating she moved to
Maryland. Once she was there she attended
Washington Technical Institute, Montgomery
Community College and The University of Maryland. She
became employed as Health Information Management
System Supervisor for Kaiser Permanente.
After retiring from Kaiser she volunteered as a
Montgomery County Ombudsman representative. She
was a loyal and strong advocate for patients in nursing
homes and was always ready to help resolve any
concerns the patients had .
She joined New Bethel Baptist Church at an
early age. She joined and was a faithful member of
Allen Chapel A.M.E Church. She was an active member
of the Women's Ministry, Prayer Ministry, and the
Healing Ministry. When her health begin to fail she
moved back to Clayton, NC and reconnected with her
New Bethel Church family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by Malissa Mitchell, Clyde Mitchell, and Odell
Mitchell.
To rejoice in her memory, she leaves two sisters,
Dorothy McCullers of Clayton, NC and Minnie Best of
Raleigh, NC, two sister-in-laws, Aruth Mitchell of
Clayton, NC and Hattie Mitchell of Seat Pleasant, MD. A
host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
