Obituary
Beulah was the youngest of the children born to the union of the late Needham (Jake) and Lula S. Atkinson. She was born in Wayne County on May 22, 1926. She departed from this earth on June 15, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, two sisters and 2 brother. Oberry Parks was her first love. They were married and she lost him after 3 short years. As a young widow she moved forward and worked hard to support her two(2) small sons.
However, as time would permit she would find love again and was married to the late William Futrell for over 40 years before his passing.
She graduated from Frink High School in LaGrange, NC. She attended Fayetteville State Teacher's College (now Fayetteville State) in Fayetteville, NC and Johnston Community College in Smithfield, NC
She worked for O'berry Center in Goldsboro, NC for more than 25 years and retired. She joined Rockford Freewill Baptist Church at an early age , attending Sunday school, member of the Junior choir and Senior choir. She
was a born again Christian and truly loved the Lord. Serving him with all of her heart. She is currently a member of Kingdom Builders Fellowship Ministry, where she was a Mother and a avid member of the Sunday School and a faithful and dedicated all around member.
Beulah leaves to cherish her memories her two sons Alvin Parks, Sr. (Minister Shillena) of Kinston, North Carolina, Apostle Melvin Parks (Minister Diane) of LaGrange, NC (Parkstown) her stepchildren, J.D. Barbour (Gloria) of Mattapan, Ma; William E. Futrell and Shelia Futrell of Boston Mass.; Scarletta Sontas of South Carolina, and Michael Bell of Smithfield, NC. One sister, Emma Jones of LaGrange, a sister- like niece, Emma Jean Bizzell of Alice Waters Rd. LaGrange, NC and approximately 25 grandchildren.
