SGT Major Bonnie Britton Tunstall of Smithfield passed away at the SECU Hospice House on Sunday January 13, 2019.
He leaves behind his loving daughter Lisa Renee Tunstall of Smithfield. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Alice Caswell Tunstall and son David Britton Tunstall.
He was born in Louisburg, N.C. to Ellis Britton Tunstall and Hattie Moon Tunstall on May 27, 1931.
In his early years he joined the US Army and served during the Korean War. He then joined the NC National Guard and retired as SGT Major with over 40 years of service. He was highly admired for his commitment and service by
the National Guard.
