Cassandra Tracy Mitchener, daughter of Bertha Mitchener and the late Jasper Mitchener, was born on April 30, 1974, in Smithfield, NC. Cassandra graduated from Smithfield-Selma Senior High School in 1993. Cassandra was an active member of the school chorus and a member of the cross country team. After graduating, she attended the Governor Morehead School in Raleigh, NC. Cassandra was a member of St. Amanda Missionary Baptist Church in Garner, NC. She was a member of the youth choir, Gospel Ensemble, and the usher board. To cherish her memory Cassandra leaves: three children, one son, Jerry Wilson and two daughters, Mackenzie and Miya Newsome; her mother, Bertha Mitchener, all of the home; one brother, Steve (LaShawn) Mitchener of Smithfield, NC; one sister, Rosa Barnes of Lexington Park, MD; six aunts, Florine Troublefield of Raleigh, NC, Mary Young of Clayton, NC, Gloria (Glen) Holder of Clayton, NC, Evelyn Triggs of Clayton, NC, Pauline (Carl) Sanders of Wilson's Mills, NC, and Helen (Harry) Clark of Clayton, NC; three uncles, Leroy (Mae Helen) Badger of Garner, NC, Marvin Badger of Kenly, NC, and Leroy Mitchener of Raleigh, NC; one nephew, Jamar Mitchener and one niece, I'yanna Mitchener, both of Smithfield, NC; and a host of brothers, sisters, cousins, relatives, and friends.
