Claude Raynor,66, of Smithfield, NC died on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC
CLAUDE RAYNOR, the oldest son of George and Mable Raynor was born October 30, 1947 in Johnston County. He transitioned from this life in Greensboro, NC on May 20, 2014. After graduating from Cooper Highs school in Clayton, NC . He served in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War He also joined Bethel AME Church at an early age.
After serving his country he worked in the logging industry for many years before succumbing to an accident that led to his paralysis. He remained faithful in his prayer life and never lost his sense of humor and kind nature. He loved having the Bible read to him and repeating Isaiah 53:5 . He loved his wife and his parents very much, when he was able he called his Mother daily sometimes more than once. Always concerned for other more than himself. We love him and will all miss him; but his living will not be in vain .
Claude was preceded in death by three sisters: Nellie Raynor Renfrow, Ernestine Walker, and Dr. Emma Jean Dunham. One brother: Freddie Raynor
He is survived by his wife Hattie Raynor of the home. His parents George and Mable Raynor of Selma, NC; six children: Dexter Williams, Lavette Connally, Jennifer Williams, all of Raleigh, NC, Jeffrey Williams of Smithfield, NC, Cheryl Raynor, Michael Raynor, both of Selma, NC; nine grandchil- dren and one great grandchild Jada Renee Washington, of Raleigh, NC; three sisters, Carolyn Bryant (Milton) of Selma, Debra Raynor Wynn (the Late
