Cleo Watson

November 27, 1939 — September 19, 2013

Cleo Doris Watson, daughter of the late Stephen and Ocie Day Stancil, was born on November 27, 1939 in Johnston County. She departed this life on September 19, 2013 at Kindred Hospital, in Greensboro, NC.

Cleo attended Richard B. Harrison School. She worked as a CNA at Colonial Rest Home, in Smithfield, NC, where she also retired. She also worked as a Home Health Care Aid at Johnston Memorial Hospital, as well as, abroad.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Shelia and Shellet Curry; one son, Danny Curry; six brothers, Lee, Willie, Nesbit, Phillip, Jessie, and Vinson Stancil; two sisters, Tempie Cooley and Sylvenie Jackson; and also a long time friend and companion for over 30 years, Jerome Brantley.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Delores Fay Curry of Wilson, NC, Wanda Gail, son-in-law Kevin Evans of Clayton, NC; one son, Gordan Leroy, daughter-in- law Toni Curry of Garner, NC; one sister, Daisy (Kevin) Smith of Landover, MD; one brother, Sylvester (Betty) Stancil of Raleigh, NC; 11 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family wishes to acknowledge Willie (Claudine) Brantley of Wake Forest, NC, Myra Brantley of Raleigh, NC, and Eric Brantley of Raleigh, NC and all of her honorary daughters and sons for all the acts of kindness and love shown to our mother over the years.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday September 24, 2013 at 2:00 at First Missionary Baptist Church 403 East Caswell St. in Smithfield, NC.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 pm.
