Cleveland Stewart, 66, of Micro died Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Cary Health Care Rehabilitation in Cary, NC

Cleveland Floyd Stewart, was born in Micro
on July 22, 1947. He departed this life on February
13, 2014 at Cary Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was known affectionately as Jack or Cliff.
Cleveland joined Warren's Chapel Original
Free Will Baptist Church at an early age. During that
time he was a faithful Sunday School attendee and
served on the usher board.
He was educated in the Johnston County
Public School System. Cleveland graduated from
Richard B. Harrison High School, Selma, North
Carolina. His class of 1965 was and still is a close
knit one. They regularly scheduled a Class Reunion
where they continue their love and friendship.
Answering to the call of Uncle Sam, Cleveland
entered the U.S. Army, where he served for two years
as a Infantryman in Vietnam and was injured. He
received a purple heart for his injuries. His other
awards include: the National Defense Service Ribbon,
Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon,
Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palm Unit Citation, Good
Conduct Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
He received an Honorable (Medical) discharge.
Later he joined the Raleigh Fire
Department where being a people person,
he enjoyed helping his family, co-workers,
children and everyone he came in contact
with. Cleveland retired from the Raleigh
Fire Department as a Lieutenant.
Cleveland was preceded in death by
his mother Margie Lillian Georgia Stewart,
son Clevon Jarrell Stewart and wife Janet
Stewart.
Those who remain to cherish his
memory are his grandson, Zamonte' Zerrell
Stewart, two step daughters, Terrie White
(David) and Jawanda Davis (James), two
step sons, Jerry Williams (Emma) and
Dexter Williams (Shannon), one aunt,
Lillar Stewart Barnes (Bobby), siblings
(cousins) Russell Stewart, Deborah
Shephard, Ricky Stewart and Gale Neal;
and a host of other beloved relatives and
friends.
His legacy of love will continue
through the lives he touched, especially his
first cousin Ricky Stewart for his care in
Micro and Terrie White and Lillar Barnes
for his care in Wake in Wake County.
