Corey Stanley Sanders transitioned unexpectedly this earthly life on Saturday, June 12,
2021. Corey was the youngest of five children born to John and Karen Sanders on August 26,
1989 in Garner, North Carolina. During his formative years, he attended schools in the Wake
County Public School System and graduated high school from Friendship Christian School,
Raleigh, NC.
Corey's maternal and paternal grandparents, the Reverend William and Annie Mary Stanley
(for whom he was given his middle name) and John, Sr. and Hazel Sanders taught him about
the love of God, encouraged attending church and planted seeds for his faith. Because of this
teaching, he attended Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church,
Raleigh, NC at a very early age through his teenage years, under the pastorate of the
Reverend Dr. Dumas A. Harshaw, Jr. In later years, he joined In the Beginning Missionary
Baptist Church, Garner, NC under the pastorate of the Reverend Gwendolyn Horton.
Corey had a love for aviation which led him to begin triple majoring in Aviation
Management, Automotive Systems Technology, and Automotive Customizing Technology.
He completed courses in aviation engineering and mechanical engineering at Lenoir
Community College in Kinston, NC. He worked several years at the Raleigh-Durham Airport
(RDU), specifically, TAC-AIR International which is a private airport located at RDU. Corey
was recognized as a gifted and skilled mechanic. He was able to apply these skills directly
through working in the field of auto mechanics at locations such as Just Tires, 911 Body
Shop, and Best Tires of Raleigh, N.C. which he held all lead mechanic positions. Corey had
remarkable skills for working on all aspects of cars and other types of mechanical vehicles
which were consistently praised by his mentors, family and friends.
Corey leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Lorena; two daughters, Aaliyah and Ashanti;
