Daniel Lee (Boone) Sims was born June 6, 1948. He was the eldest of five children born to the late Miles and Virgie Sims.
"Boone" attended the former Richard B. Harrison High School, Selma, N.C. While attending Harrison he developed skills in wood working. In addition to "honing" his wood working skills, he became an avid gardener. From his hands, many people enjoyed numerous meals from his home grown vegetables. Although he loved wood working and gardening, God instilled within him the mind of a mechanical "whiz kid". When folks could not get their cars fixed at other places, they "flocked" to see the blessed hands under the car shelter work on their vehicles. Boone loved to work on cars trucks and anything with a motor.
Unknowingly to many "Boone" began attending church services at the House of Prayer, Inc. in Clayton, N.C. He and Pastor Mack Sowell developed a close spiritual bond that was trusting and respectful until God called him away to give an account of his earthly sojourn. "Boone" even got so he tried to sing with the congregation and do his "holy step".
Boone's legacy and loving memories will linger in the hearts of his loving wife of 36 years, Ida F. Sims; two (2) daughters, LaTonia Kirby of Smithfield, NC; Angel Neal of Smithfield, NC; two (2) sons, Chris Atkinson (Linda) of Raleigh, NC; Dacorrus Staton of Raleigh, NC; two (2) brothers, Jimmy Sims of Durham, NC; Leroy Sims (Evelyn) of Butner, NC; one (1) sister, Teresa Dawes (Samuel) of Durham, NC; five (5) brothers-in- law, Vasal "Tiny" Joyner of Kenly, NC; Robert L.
