David "What's Up Dawg" Gray Foye was born March 31, 1952 to the late George and Dorothy Foye (Hagins) in Johnston County, North Carolina. His spirit peacefully entered into Heaven's Gate on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Rex Hospital, Raleigh, NC with his family at his side.
David received Christ at a young age at Red Hill United Church of Christ. In 1976 he married Maddie B. Harper. From that union three children were born. Later in life he was blessed with another son, Daequan Yancy.
For over 30 years, he drove for several trucking companies -- which included Moss Trucking Company, Mercer Brothers, Ray Creech Lodging Company. He retired from Keen Transport, Inc. in 2012. David had a passion for truck driving. He mentored many young men who were interested in a truck driving career.
In 2005 David and his cousin Linwood Foye started their own charter company, D&L Tours, with numerous trips traveling all over the U.S. for several years. But due to his passion for truck driving he decided to return to what he loved doing most.
David belonged to several organizations, including three Corvette Clubs, Men On A Mission and a college scholarship awards organization. Annually, during Thanksgiving he volunteered to feed the hungry.
David always quoted something that one of his uncles or someone else in the family would carry with them, which made you cry with laughter. For example, when David received a phone call he would look at his phone and say, "I got a bite" and would sometimes greet others with, "What's up dawg?"
He loved and enjoyed cooking. His specialty â coleslaw! His son Keith continues his father's passion for cooking. His specialty â coleslaw!
David was admired by everyone who crossed his path and will be missed by all.
