Donald Daniel Harmon, age 66, passed away at SECU Hospice Care Center in Smithfield NC, on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 3:33AM. After a long battle with cancer, his body finally succumbed; but his spirit lives on.
Donnie was born in Durham NC but lived the majority of his life in Fuquay-Varina NC. He served in the U.S. Navy as was a Vietnam Veteran. His career was a colorful one that mainly revolved around automobiles. He retired in 1997 due to health issues.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Diania Wilson Harmon, his twin sons Jerry D. Harmon with wife Angie and daughter Kaylee and Gary D. Harmon with wife Michelle, daughter Adriana and son Garan as well as his sister Ann Skinner.
Donnie will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his generous spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Donnie's honor to: UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Treatment Center located at 450 West Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27599.
Donnie's memorial service will be held on June 14th, 2015 at 3PM at Evangel Pentecostal Church located at 201 Meadow Drive, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service.
