God knew you were tired and a cure was not to be. So, He put his arms around you and whispered, " Dot, Come unto me".
Dorothy Mae Jones was the daughter of Jessie Jones and Queenie Bell Thomas Jones. She peacefully departed her life May 29, 2017 at Barbour Court Rest Home in Smithfield N.C. She was born June 15, 1937 in Bishopville, South Carolina.
Dorothy Mae Jones known as "Dot", some called her "Jean" was a very skillful labor worker from her youth age until things in her life begin to change. Dorothy and Willie James Williams, Dot's deceased loving and devoted companion both worked for James Massengill's until they moved from the area of Bentonville Battleground. Later they moved to Four Oaks to work for Glenn Lassiter's and Terry Parker on their farm. As the years proceeded, Dot health begin to fail and she was placed in Barbour Court in Smithfield N.C. She was a loving, sweet and funny Aunt. But when she mean business, she meant it. She would let you have it and sometime in a ugly way if you crossed her wrong. She could cook some good old soul food especially homemade biscuits after barning tobacco. She loved to dance and sing, loved to cut up with you. Jean was well thought of by the family from far and near.
Preceded in death by Willie James Williams, loving and devoted companion, a sister, Marie Burroughs, two brothers, Jessie Jones and Travis Jones. She leaves to cherish memories two sisters, Annie Ruth Richardson of Cassatt, South Carolina and Bertha Mae Alford of Benson NC; stepson, Willie James Williams, Jr., one stepdaughter, Mary Odessa Williams; both of Rocky Mount NC; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
"The Garden"
God looked around His garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, the hill were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, Peace be thine, We love you, Dot, even though we may not had said it to you as much, We miss you, Jean, knowing even though we weren't there by your side to reach out to touch, But now Dorothy, we realize that you are forever gone from earth, but those old memories of you will be forever with us always.
~With Love, Your Family"
