Dwight M. Watson was born on February 25, 1962 to the late Johnny Watson and Mildred C. Watson in Smithfield, NC. He was one of the seven children to be born to Mr. and Mrs. Watson. On March 5, 2017, Dwight received his wings as he was called home to be with the Lord.
Dwight was a Military Veteran and a Professional Barber. He served in the United States Army for 12 years, 7 months, and 23 days from June 1981 to January 1994. Dwight had the privilege of serving in Kuwait, Texas, Hawaii, and North Carolina. While serving in the army, Dwight had the honor of being a Medic for former President George Bush who personally chose him to be his private Medic. After leaving the military, he decided to pursue his passion to attend Dudley Barber School, and he started his new career as a professional barber at New Creations in Lakeland, Florida. Shortly after, Dwight opened his own barbershop in Lakeland, Florida called Anointed Cuts. Periodically, he taught at barber schools while working at Anointed Cuts. Dwight was truly an active an active member of the community. He often offered free haircuts, lunch, money, and clothes to a host of children in the community. Dwight was truly a beacon of light in the community.
Dwight was the life of any party. He was truly irresistible because of his love and outgoing personality. Dwight was a joker and always looked on brighter side of things. He would always give the best advice that was inspirational by telling you about God's Word. Dwight was not a perfect man, but he did all he could to strive to reach perfection in God's eyes. Often, Dwight would say "sugar is sugar soda, so if you don't reach extra ordinary success then it's your own fault. Stay alert, stay alive, and don't worry about me, but worry about yourself, and in this family we share everything."
Dwight was a true role model. He was a leader amongst his peers, friends, family, and community. Dwight's knowledge about life was appreciated by many because of his love towards life. His walk and love for Christ was very powerful. Dwight attended Powerhouse of Love & Faith in Fayetteville, North Carolina at a very young age, and Power House of Prayer in Selma, North Carolina. He always attended church even throughout his travels. After settling in Florida, Dwight did find his church home at Rhema WOF International.
He was preceded in death by his father Johnny P Watson. He leaves his precious memories with his mother, Mildred C Watson of Selma, NC; three daughters, Tionna Watson of Texas, Dionna Watson of Lakeland, Florida, and Jalisa Watson of Selma, NC; seven grandchildren, Tiara Watson, Success Torrain, Tykel Tubbs, Jaquan Watson, Sincere Bunch, Dwight Nesbitt, and Serenity Crumbley; six siblings, Floyd Watson of Smithfield NC, Francine Graham (William) of Brunswick GA, Ricky Watson (Sherry) of Corona, CA, Gwendolyn Chestnut (Alvin) of Fayetteville NC, Lewis Watson of Corona, CA, and Michael Watson of Selma, NC; grandmother, Willie Mae Watson of Smithfield NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
