Eldena McCoy, daughter of the late John Henry (Dude) Sanders and Arzilla Sanders died Friday, November 14, 2014 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield, NC. She was also predeceased in death by her late husband, Arthur McCoy of Smithfield, NC and son, Alexander Coit Jr. of Brooklyn, NY.
She attended Johnston County Training School (later named Johnston Central High School). As a young child, she was baptized and became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Smithfield, NC which she loved dearly. For seventeen years, she worked at KR Edwards Tobacco Company and later at Trot Motel.
Eldena Sanders McCoy was born in Smithfield, North Carolina. She was baptized and became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Smithfield, NC. She continued to be a faithful member until her death. She had been a member of the Sunday School, the Pastor's Aide Club, the Spiritualities, and the Usher Board. She also assisted the Hospitality Committee in preparing and serving food to the Church family and visiting guests and worked with the Missionary Circle.
Her pleasant personality was one of her most noticeable characteristics. Her service for others, especially senior citizens, was commendable. She used her car to transport many
of them to the doctor, the grocery store and to various church activities. Eldena liked to be active and work. She said work helped you stay healthy.
She was a member of the United Order of Tents Pride of Smithfield No. 636 and the Homeworkers Club. Her favorite scripture was the
23rd Psalm and her favorite song was ââ¬ÅStanding on the Promises"
She leaves to cherish her memories; brother, (Buddy/spouse) of Selma, NC; a daughter-in-law, Grace Revell Coit of Brooklyn, NY; two granddaughters, Sharon Coit Camacho (Alex), of Nazareth, Pa and Felicia Sanchez (James) of Marietta, Georgia; four grandchildren; BreShey and Alexis Camacho of Pa; Katrina Sanchez and Jamie Alexandria Martin (Darryl) of Ga; four great children; Dante Martin and Savvy Sanchez of Ga, Deogracia E. Wigen and Andre' M. Wigen; special grandson, Lawrence Wigen (Edelmira) of Milwaukee, WI; a God daughter, Audrey Faye Revell of Selma, NC; and a host of relatives and friends.
