Eliza D Holder

January 31, 1947 — January 16, 2019

Affectionately called "Baby Sis" by her siblings, Eliza D. Eason Holder, 71 was born the youngest daughter of William Garfield and Mattie Bell Eason on January 31, 1947.
During her career, she gave her whole heart to lovingly caring for many people as a Nursing Assistant first at Johnston County Memorial Nursing Center and then as one of the initial Home Health Care Nursing Assistants to travel throughout Johnston County.
She enjoyed being around not just her immediate family but the entire clan. So she faithfully organized the Family Reunions and a Christmas party every year. In between, there was always an impromptu cook out as often as possible.
When Eliza moved back to N.C. she reconnected with her childhood place of worship White Rock A.M.E. Church and joined the choir. Years later she joined Total Praise Ministries (TPM). As the Mother of TPM, she spent long hours at the church decorating, cleaning and most importantly advising the young women of the church. She was very proud of the Woman of the Year award she received from Apostle and Pastor Gathers. Her final church home was with Pastors Darren and Taneka Yon of Christ Dominion Church.
Music, being one of her favorite hobbies, her collection rivaled any DJ of her time. As an avid decorator, seamstress and gardener, her style was envied and copied by many. Her favorite color was blue which is associated with the characteristics of faith, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, intelligence and peace... all of which she embodied.
During the early part of her life, she enjoyed a 25+ year marriage to Norman Holder. However, as a devoted grandmother, her biggest joy came from being with her grandchildren... taking them to school, games, practices, and just hanging out.
Preceding her in death were her parents, William Garfield and Mattie Bell Eason. Three brothers: Climous, Owen, and Clarence Eason. Left to cherish her precious memory are two daughters: Angela Richardson (Kirk), De'Bora Lockamy (Anthony), two grandchildren Brittany Lockamy and Stephen Lockamy. One brother James Eason and two sisters Thelma Dobbin and Lellareen Williams (Robert) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dear Grandma,
Hey Pearl! Thank you for everything. In 24 years you taught me so much. Everybody says their Grandma is the best, but you were a different kind of "best". You never missed anything. You always had my back... right or wrong. You were my "twin grandma" from looks to attire... my personal diary. I told you everything and you helped me with any problem that I had. Even with the hilarious advice you gave me when someone was picking on my shoes at school and you told me to say "I killed your grandma dog to make them"!
I'll never forget that time we were talking about dogs and you said "You'd get one if it was cute enough to love. But dogs ain't cute! Your dog needed to know how to take itself out and come in cause you weren't doing it so there was no need to have a dog!" Or the times we used to ride with you home from school and you said our music was a bunch of mumbled up fuss! But you never made us turn it off. Grandma thank you for 24 years of memories and lessons I will never forget anything... I promise! I Love You. My "Forever Pearl"
~Grannies "Princemess" Brittany~
Dear Grandma,
Hey Ma...remember that time you said you were gonna whoop me with that "little switch" Or how about when you said "you were gonna whoop my naked 'en'! We laughed again. Remember when I feel asleep at your house and didn't put my book bag together and I was half sleep trying to do it and you told Momma "just hit him in the back of the head!" that was
funny. Remember when I was graduating from elementary school and you jumped in the car with your grass-cutting clothes on to go with us? Even though I made you change, you were always there no matter what. You taught me so much; listened to my crazy music; gave me WHATEVER I wanted although Brittany thought she was the favorite. Remember when we were coming home from school and I burst out singing and scared you? Or how about the time I yelled out "I see Jesus" while you were driving? I love you forever Grandma.
