Ethel Mae Lynn, daughter of the late Junius and Agnes Lynn was
born on May 18, 1926 in Smithfield, NC. She entered into eternal rest at
home on November 17, 2019.
Ethel Mae attended the public school at Short Journey and
graduated from Johnston County Training School in Smithfield, NC.
While at Johnston County Training School, she was a member of the
Basketball Team.
At an early age, she joined Johnston Piney Grove Baptist Church
in Clayton, NC and later moved her membership to the New Trinity
Missionary Baptist Church in Clayton, NC under the leadership of Rev.
Luther Coppedge and Rev. Dr. Alvin Thompson, Sr. There she continued
to be a very faithful and dedicated servant of God's church and a friend to
all mankind. She served as a member of New Trinity Missionary Ministry.
Ethel Mae worked at the NC School for the Blind and Deaf in
Garner, NC. The school closed and she was moved to the Governor
Morehead School. She worked there for a total of 42 years in the school
system. She was very fluent in sign language. Ethel Mae was a Den Mother
for the Cub Scouts.
She leaves precious memories with her sister Annie Lynn of the
home. Ethel Mae helped in the rearing of Linda Spence (Wilbert), Willie
Mae Sanders, Janet Boykin (Christopher), Lisa Sloan, Edgar Lynn and
Kenneth Peebles. She was blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
other relatives and friends.
