Eugene Darney Denson was born on Sunday, June 18, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA, the firstborn child of Delma Denson. Eugene, affectionately called "Gene" by his family spent his childhood years in Philadelphia, where he was raised by his mother and maternal grandmother the late Flora Graham. They later moved to Chester, PA where he graduated from Chester High School Class of 1964. This is where he became known as "Kool". Eugene (Kool) was a dedicated employee of Chrysler Corporation located in Newark DE for 34 years. He remained there until his retirement in 2001. He was an active member of United Auto Workers Local 1183 and remained a member as a retiree. Gene was also a member of Moose International Lodge 1578. While employed with Chrysler he became a local DJ in Chester and the surrounding area. Which led to him being well known as "DJ Kool." He specialized in R&B, and there was no song that you could request that he did not have. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of twenty-one years, Debra Dee Flood, three sons Paul Hamilton, Bruce Thompson Sr., and Omar Beard (Des) all of Chester PA, and two daughters Dana Wise and Teressa Thompson of Wilmington DE, one brother James Dupree Jr. (Mary) of Powder Springs GA, one sister Delma Dorean Jackson of Clayton NC, fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one uncle, three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers Flora Graham, and Sallie Mae James, his mother Delma Denson Allen, and his brother Walter William Allen
