George Lee Cole was born on April 9, 1951 to the late Willis Cole and Bettie Mae Cole. Mr. George Lee Cole of Raleigh, NC passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Harnett Central Hospital in Lillington, NC.
George often called "Pipe Stem" was educated in the Johnston County public school system and was the first class to graduate from South Johnston High School in the class of 1971. George was employed at K.R. Edwards Tobacco Company for numerous years and later relocated to Seattle, Washington, where he gained employment with Boeing Aircraft Company in the Maintenance Department for five years. George always had a smile and encouraging words for everyone that he came into contact with, as well as, a love for fast sports cars.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Willis, Jr., Nate, Lena, Joann, and Pauline. He leaves to cherish his memories, his sisters Lina Oates of Raleigh, NC, Donna Robinson (Dwight) of Brementon, Washington, two brothers Dennis Cole (Barbara) of Selma, NC, and Raeford Cole of Raleigh, NC; five nieces, Toshiba, Shanda, Tijuana, Latrice, and Stephanie; four nephews, Kendrick, Derrick, Dennis Jr., and Cedrick; six great nieces and two great nephews, three aunts, Annie Parker of Newton Grove, NC', Hazel Eason of Temple Hill, Maryland; and Adelaide Whitley of Selma, NC; and a special friend Bonita Randolph; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Smithfield, NC at 2:00 pm. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral services at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton, NC.
