Mr. James Dixon was born August 31, 1934, in Wilson, North
Carolina to the late Sylvester and Lula Mae Dixon. He departed
this life on Friday, June 25, 2021, at his home in Clayton, NC
surrounded by his family.
Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester
Dixon and Lula Mae Dixon, his late wife Ida Mae Dixon, his
daughter Angela D. Dixon, three sisters Katie Rossen, Barbara
Darden, and Ardelia Sanders, three brothers Alan Dixon,
Sylvester Dixon, and Joseph Dixon. his grandsons Marcus
Lassiter and Terrance Eason Jr.
Mr. James farmed for Mr. Percy Flowers for many years. He
worked as a Custodian at NC State University, for 29 years and
retired on August 30, 1996. He was full of life and always made
you laugh. He always provided for his family and truly
enjoyed seeing his children, grandchildren, great-grand
children. He loved fishing, gardening, grilling out, watching tv,
and dancing.
Mr. James Dixon leaves to cherish his wife Mrs. Maggie Mae
Dixon, of Smithfield, NC; He leaves to cherish 13 daughters;
Fannie Herrera of Selma, Patricia Campbell (Wayne) of
Princeton, Alice Hinton (Roy) of Newton Grove, Patsy Rogers
(Calvin) of Smithfield, Sheila Lassiter (Greca) of Selma,
Gwendolyn Campbell of Raleigh, Ada Holder (Larry) of
Selma, Virginia Currie (Keith) of Four Oaks, Yolanda
McAllister of Raleigh, Venesta Woods of Raleigh, Maryann
Cooley (Keith) of Selma, Juana Ruffin of Smithfield, Angel
Dixon-Benton (Micheal) of Princeton and one son Thurman
Ruffin Jr . of Smithfield, NC. Thirty-seven grandchildren,
Thirty-four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Four sisters: Sarah Smith, Beatrice Thomas, Annie
Pearl Pearson, and Faye Dixon and two brothers: Curtis Lee
Dixon and Larry Dixon. A host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
