James Edward Mcdougle

On July5, 1929 James McDougle was born the son of Sarah McDougle and Vada Liles.

"Poppy" as he was affectionately called by his family and friends entered his "beautiful place" (as he best described it on the day of his death) on June 3, 2009 at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield, North Carolina.

He joined First Missionary Baptist Church, Selma, North Carolina many years ago and attended until his health declined. James attended public school in Johnston County. He was employed and retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

On August 30, 1959, Poppy married the love of his life, Lillie Belle Bullock. To this union four children were born. Vivian McDougle, Jimmy McDougle, Barbara McDougle, and James C. McDougle.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Belle and his mother, Sarah. He is survived by two daughters, Vivian McDougle (Selma) and Barbara McDougle (Selma), two sons, Jimmy McDougle (Bobbie) Kansas City, Missouri and James C. McDougle (Connie) Selma, North Carolina. Six grandchildren, Lakita McDougle (Selma), Andrian McDougle (Raleigh), Brandi McDougle, Haley McDougle, and Lauren McDougle (Kansas City, Missouri), several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Two sister in laws, Jean Raiford (Selma) and Delphine Bullock (Raleigh).

Services for James MCDougle will be held Monday, June 8, 2009 at 1:00 pm at First Missionary Baptist Church in Selma, NC. Interment will take place directly after service at Selma Memorial Gardens.

There will be a wake Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at First Missionary Baptist Church in Selma, NC.
