Joycelyn Patricia Melson Alston

Joycelyn "Joyce" Patrice Alston was born on October 21, 1959, to Shirley M. Davis of Camden, North Carolina and Melvin R. Welch of Edenton, North Carolina. Joyce received her formal education at Northeastern High School in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and her post-education at St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina as she studied Childhood Education.
Joycelyn accepted Christ at an early age when she was later united with First Missionary Baptist Church. She was united in holy matrimony with Bobby Ray Alston on July 16, 1994, in Dillion, South Carolina. Their union was blessed with three children.
Joyce was employed by College Foundation, Inc for 29 years with an ending title of Residence Senior Specialists. In her leisure time, Joyce enjoyed reading, hanging out with family on vacations, "Bobby & Joyce" time, and a newfound interest of knitting.
Joyce departed this life on March 8, 2020, after an unforeseen battle with cancer. Joyce was proceeded in death by her brother Michael Welch in January 2018.
Joyce leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Bobby Alston; one son, Samuel Alston; one daughter, Marjorie Alston; one step-son, Demarielle Pebbles; five sisters, Sydney Mosely, Melanie Welch Kirk (Alphonso), Serena Green (Ray), Sharon Porter, Tanya Jones (Darryl); one brother, Clifford Davis Jr. (Pamela); one sister-in-law, Marche' Welch (late brother Michael Welch); four brothers-in-law, Alvino Jones, Warren Jones, Cory Jones, Eric Alston; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
