Juanita Vera "Pookie" Smith was born on April 7, 1969 in Smithfield, NC at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She entered the gates of Heaven on November 8, 2019 in Columbia, SC.
Juanita was a loving, caring, and beautiful mother, grand-mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Not only was she known as Juanita, but many other names as she was so greatly loved. From Ma, Mama, Mona, Pookie, Mo, Nita, Ne Ne, or Nita-Juan, everyone had something different to call her, but they knew she would answer. She graduated from Smithfield-Selma High School in the class of 1987. Later, she went on to obtain an Associate Degree in Business from Ashford Univer-sity. She was a renaissance woman who worked various jobs in many fields.
She had a love for jewelry and later launched her own line, "Sabbath Grand Designs". For a short period of time she even opened a jewelry store in the downtown area of Yanceyville, NC. Not only did she have a love for designing and making jewelry; she also enjoyed: cooking, spending time with her family, listening to music and singing, coloring, reminiscing with friends, and just having a good time.
Juanita was predeceased by her parents, Willie and Sue Smith. She is survived by her daughter, India Daymon, (Everett Daymon), stepson Michael Daymon, two grandchil-dren, Saveria Daymon and Azaria Baldwin. She is survived by her sister Shiela Smith-Dickson, (Dickson), and their children Chanel, Angelina (Artis), and Ian. She is also survived by her brother Frederick O' Neal and his children, Kisa (Acree), Randy, and predeceased by their sisters Fredericka and Francesca. She is also survived by other numerous family and friends.
