For I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Hush! Don't cry, I am going home to be with the my Lord and Savior.
One to God's precious Angels, Katie Ingram Rich was born on June 29, 1921 to Nebraska and Flonnie (White) Ingram. She departed this life at 412 Birch Street, Smithfield, North Carolina.
She attended school at Johnston County Training School and graduated June 1941. She worked at South Smithfield Elementary School, K&R Edwards Tobacco Factory and Howard Johnson Restaurant as a dynamic cook (something she love and was good at. She was known as the Chicken Pastry Lady. She also love knitting and crocheting. She was a member of Saint James Disciples of Christ Church in Benson, North Carolina. She was devoted to her church and served on the usher board and sang in the choir until her health begin to fail. Mama Katie lived a long, satisfying life and had with God and mankind.
She was preceded in death by her husband James E. Rich, Sr.
She leaves to her legacy of memories, five children, Doris Powell, James E. Rich, Jr., Freda Joyce Frink, Linda K. Rich and Brenda Rich Blue; one sister, Velma Gay of Raleigh, NC; two brothers Oeglaire Ingram of Fayetteville, Georgia and Emory Ingram of Four Oaks, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one god-daughter Delphine Frieson. A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
