Obituary
Mr. Kevin Willard Simmons was born September 6th, 1967, in Fayetteville, North Carolina to the late Elvin Simmons Jr. and Wilma Murphy Simmons. He later moved to Benson, NC where he graduated from South Johnston High School in Four Oaks, NC in 1986. He departed this life on Thursday, May 12th, 2022, in Smithfield, NC.
Mr. Kevin Willard Simmons was preceded in death by his father Elvin Simmons Jr, three brothers Elvin "Pete" Simmons, Elvin Antonio Simmons, and Ronald Wayne Simmons, and one sister Jeanette Simmons.
Mr. Simmons worked for Chicopee in Benson, NC for many years. He worked for Johnston County Schools for 5 years. He was the owner of "Backdoor Café." He coached Johnston County Little League Football for many years. He was one of the greatest mentors for youth and young adults, everyone loved his wonderful spirit. He has sung with Johnston County MLK choir. He was the Pastor of House of Prayer International Ministries; he had a passion for touching the lives of others. He started working for the post office in Smithfield, NC on March 6th, 2006, he worked there for 15 years. He was full of life and always made you laugh. He always cherished his family, he truly loved singing, fishing, and playing basketball. His life message was peace and rest, he loved God and people.
Mr. Kevin Willard Simmons leaves to cherish his wife Mrs. Kechi Simmons, of Smithfield, NC; He leaves to cherish 2 daughters; Jacquel Simmons of Smithfield, NC, and Reneka Rowland of Florida, and Two sons; Kevin Simmons of Smithfield, NC, Jeffrey Williams of Smithfield, NC and Two adopted sons; Marquez Simmons of Greensboro and Kendall Simmons of Smithfield, NC. There are seven grandchildren; Egypt Surles, Naomi Surles, Jeremiah Williams, Josiah Williams, Chase Rowland, Tristan Rowland, and Damon Rowland. His mother; Wilma Simmons, and One brother; Jerry Manlove-Simmons (Kris) of Snellville, GA. Three sisters; Clarissa Ruffin (Haywood) of Garner, NC, Toni Howard of GA, and Sandra Simmons of Garner, NC. A host of foster children and many nieces and nephews. Mother-in-law; Jacqueline Covington and brother-in-law; Edward Covington Jr.
