Kimberly Dawn Young Thompson

Kimberly Dawn Thompson, 60, of Spring Lake, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, in Smithfield, North Carolina.

Born on April 26, 1964, in Michigan to Joyce and Frederick, Kimberly dedicated herself to her education, beginning with her studies at Lake Orion High School. She later attended Fayetteville State University, where she earned her Master’s degree in Psychology in 2024. Kimberly was a devoted individual deeply committed to her family and the pursuit of knowledge.

She is survived by her children, Kimberly, Shayla, Benji (Brianna), and Christopher; three sisters; one brother; and thirteen cherished grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred; her husband, Gary; her brother, Jim; her grandson, Ethan; and her mother, Joyce.

Throughout her life, Kimberly had a passion for nature and animals. She found joy in feeding birds and would often sit for hours watching them at her bird bath. Her love for animals extended to her fondness for dogs, particularly her experiences showing Pomeranians in her younger years. In addition, Kimberly enjoyed crafting, although arthritis made it challenging for her in later years.

Kimberly’s memory will be forever treasured by all who knew and loved her.
