Lawrence E Williams son of the late Joseph and Myrtle Williams was born October 28th 1925 in Johnston County. He departed this life on Friday September 25, 2009 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro NC.
He was educated in the Johnston County School System, In Smithfield NC. He began work as a construction worker and later in the years preformed domestic jobs.
His passion was being the manager of the Greytown Tigers. This was the community baseball team. He was a great baseball player himself.
Mr. Williams was a faithful memeber of the Golden Link Lodge # 205 in Smithfield NC.
He attended St. Mark Methodist Church until his health started to decline and physical abilities declined as well.
He was married to the late Mamie Williams of Smithfield NC.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his sister Carole Williams of Camden New Jersey. Her daughters, LaKeysha (Dwayne) Jackson and Rashada Williams and her children Zahir and Zani Williams.
His step-daughters: Minnie Bridges and Lou Glenda (Perry) Gupton of the home.
Lawrence was survived by: eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by a special friend Swanzett Eason of Smithfield NC, and a cousin Linwood Smith (Carol) and Family.
Funeral services will be held Friday October 2nd at 1pm at the St Mark AME Church in Smithfield NC. Interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery in Smithfield NC. The Reverend Sheridan Knight will officiate.
