Miss Lela Mae Clark, daughter of the late Arthur Harris Stancil and the late Annie Harris was born December 22, 1938, in Johnston County. Miss Lela Clark departed this earth on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. Miss Clark was married to the late George E. Clark. She was a graduate of Richard B. Harrison High School. She also joined Bethel A.M.E. Church at an early age. Miss Lela Clark retired from the Detroit School Board. Miss Clark was a happy and very outspoken person. She was also loving and charismatic. Miss Clark loved to cook, feed the community and help people. She also loved her family and friends, church, to read, and also she definitely loved to travel. Miss Clark was proceeded in death by her one daughter, Carmancita Ruth: three brothers, Arthur Jr. Harris, William J. Harris, and Curtis Lee Harris; three sisters, Gracie Stancil, Cord Lee McClain and Helen Marie Harris. She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Michael Anthony Williams; one daughter in law, Katherine Marie Williams of Selma; six granddaughters, Lakiesha Fleming of Detroit, Chantilly Lucas of Garner NC, Kenya Lucas, Emerald Lucas of Selma, NC, Mikea Nash of Raleigh, NC, and Shannon Shabazz of Raleigh, NC; Three sisters, Lula M. Harris Washington, DC, Eula M. Cohen of Washington, DC, and Lena M. Harris of Detroit, Michigan; and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves to cherish her memories her two best friends, Bertha Stancil and Elizabeth Godwin Newman.
