Lemuel Earl Jones

Mr. Lemuel Earl Jones, 60 of Smithfield, NC was the son of the late Nancy Hinton Jones and Thomas Buster Jones. He was born on July 17, 1953 and departed this life on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eliza Latta and Mary Jane Watkins.

Lemuel, who is also known as "Leme" attended Lockhart Elementary School in Knightdale, North Carolina. "Leme" started working as a brick mason and a farm laborer at an early age. He never met a stranger and was always a happy and caring person.

Lemuel left to cherish his memories; three sisters, Sally Ray and Elizabeth Boyd of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Nancy Meritt of Engalhard, North Carolina; Four brothers, Bertis Jones, Milton Earl Jones, and Monroe Jones, all of Knightdale, North Carolina; and Thomas Jones of Raleigh, North Carolina; three brother-in-laws, Winston Boyd, George Meritt, and Obey Ray, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 7:00 pm at Sanders Funeral Home in Smithfield, NC. Interment will be at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Pleasant Grove Annex in Wendell, NC.
