Margaret Lee "Ruth" Barnes Boomer, a resident of Smithfield, North Carolina transitioned to her eternal reward on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the age of 84. She was born January 22, 1928 in Micro, North Carolina. She was the youngest of 12 siblings from the late Elroy Barnes and Rosa Marsh.
As Margaret grew up in North Carolina, she met the late Ezekiel Boomer, and got married February 4, 1944 from their union came, Kacina Taylor (Wimpy), Glenda Boomer (Pig) and Wayne.
During Magaret's younger years she lived in NY raised her children and worked as an LPN and Health Care Aide. She worked hard to take care of her family; she was always there for her children. She was a very important part of our lives and instilled in us that family was always important. She was the "ROCK" of our family.
When she retired, she moved back to Smithfield, NC to be near her sister, the late Alma Whitfield along with her nieces and nephews. She still continued to work until her health begin to decline.
During her golden years the family took an active part in looking after her she first lived with her son Wayne and her granddaughter Shamika. During the final years of her life she lived with her niece Lou Whitfield.
She leaves precious memories with a brother Milliard Barnes; one daughter, Kacina Taylor; one son, Wayne Boomer; several grandchildren, Herbert Taylor (Bro), Martice (Stinky), Doretha (Trelle), Joel, Shamika, Lintheil, Quan, Iesha, Joyce, Wayne, Jr., Donte, Meema, Mame, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 from 3-8 pm at Sanders Funeral Home 806 East Market St. in Smithfield, NC
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 1:00 pm at The Johnston Central High School Alumni Association 1102 Massey St. Smithfield, NC
