Mary Lee Battle Bryant daughter of the late John Henry Battle and Beulah Worsley Battle was born January 13, 1935 in Battleboro, NC and departed this earthly life on Friday, September 14, 2018. She was em-ployed by the Johnston County School System for 22 years where she later retired. After retirement she did various jobs caring for the elderly.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Charles Ray Bryant in 1952. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She en-joyed being in the presence of her family and friends listening to good soulful music, laughing, and dancing.
She was preceded in death by: four brothers, Octavius (Shorty) Battle, Sylvester (Snag) Battle, Roy (Preacher) Battle, and LeRoy (Bo) Battle; and four grandchildren, Kimberly Fae Battle, Syretta Battle, Jada Taylor Duncan, and Diamond Battle.
She leave to cherish her loving memory: two sons, William (Peanut) Battle of Princeton, NC and Timothy Battle of Smithfield, NC; five daughters, Mary Holder (Donnie) of Selma, NC, Shelby Battle of Selma, NC, Sheila (Diane) Taylor of Raleigh, NC, Gloria Battle Benton (Charles) of Pikeville, NC, and Patrica Battle (Carl) of Princeton NC; sixteen grandchildren, two in which she raised has her own, Shanika Allen (Micky Bullock) of Princeton, NC and Tiffine Battle (Jerome Phillips) of Wilson, NC; twenty-six great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mamie (Pookie) Smith of New Carrollton, Maryland and Minnie (Sue) Williams of Temple Hills, Maryland; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
