Mary Ethel Jacocks McCorkle

December 3, 1944 — December 18, 2023

On the morning of December 18, 2023, Mary Ethel Jacocks McCorkle of Hillsborough, North Carolina,

passed away at the age of 79.

Mary Ethel was born to Frank and Helen Jacocks in 1944. She received her bachelor’s degree from the

University of Maryland and was an accountant at Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh, NC for many years.

After moving to Emerald Isle, Mary Ethel enjoyed working at the local jewelry store where she

made lifelong friends. She loved dogs, was a member of DAR, and enjoyed learning the art of basket

weaving. She was known for her caring acts, infectious laughter, and wicked humor.

Mary Ethel is preceded in death by her husband, Tim, her father, Frank, and her mother, Helen. She is

survived by her brother, Frank, his wife, Pattie, their children, Susan, John, and Steven, her stepchildren

Bill, Rick, Beth, and Marty, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her sweet dog Maggie, and many

loving family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Emerald Isle Baptist Church 304 Emerald Plantation Rd, Emerald Isle,

NC 28594 at a future date. Those who desire to make memorial donations in memory of Mary Ethel may

be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
