''She's Cooking, Singing and Dancing Again'' By Ms. Karen Ellison (Granddaughter)
I had a dream last night
I dreamed that my grandma was smiling at me as she cooked over
a stove
I dreamed that she was cooking her famous meatloaf and field peas
You know the meal that can bring you to your knees
Family was gathering together pouring out from chariots.
I dreamed that my grandmother was smiling at me as she sang her favorite hymn.
She kneaded and rolled the dough for fresh biscuits; her eyes were bright not dim.
The words she sang out were ''How I got over oh how I got over, my soul looks back and wonders how I got over!'' I heard her sing ''Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now I found was blind but now I see.
As she cooked and sang I dreamed that her voice was strong, passionate and loud.
I even saw other relatives float by on a cloud.
They were all there to welcome her; there were instruments of harps and organs and things.
They were getting ready for a celebration; it is time for Grandma to get her wings.
God Almighty is patiently waiting for us to release her so that he can say
''Well done, my good and faithful servant. Today is Your day!
So dry your eyes, no more weeping because today is a celebration
And by this time tomorrow Grandma will have danced all over heaven.
