Matthew Price

Matthew Price, Sr., was born June 10,
1918, in Johnston County. He went home peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Barbour Court Rehabilitation/Nursing Home,
Smithfield, North Carolina.


He attended Richard B. Harrison School. After leaving school Matthew joined the United States Army, where he served in World War II. While in the US Army he was awarded seven medals which include, The America Defense Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacifica Medal, Two Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal.


Matthew joined First Missionary Baptist Church at a very young age. He was an usher and later became a Deacon. He was a faithful and dedicated member until his health begin to decline.


He was preceded in death by eight sisters, five brothers and one grandson.


Celebrating his homegoing is his wife of 67 years and 10 months Mattie P. Richardson, nine
children; James of Selma, NC, Ida King of Los Angeles, California, Joseph (Peggy) of Pine Level, NC, Irma (Kenn eth ) of Selma, NC, Mary (Thurman) of Pine Level, NC, Matthew (Kathy) of Miami, Florida, Sherry (Steven W.) of Wilson Mills, NC, Major o f t h e h o m e , M i l t o n ( S h e l i a ) Knightdale, NC; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, four granddaughters-in
-law, one brother, eight sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law a host of very special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
