Mrs. Mattie Pearl Price was born September 8, 1929, in Johnston County to the late Reverend Garfield and Lillie Penny Richardson in Bentonville, NC. She was the third of eleven children. She went home peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at home in Pine Level, NC. She attended Short Journey School and later on in life she worked at Micro-Pine Level School as a cook. She continued on to work at Kenly Senior Center until her retirement.
She joined Giles Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church at a very early age. She was a Church Mother and a faithful and dedicated member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Price, of 67 years of matrimony, one grandson, two sisters and three brothers. Celebrating her homegoing: her nine children, James of Selma, NC, Ida King of the home, Joseph (Peggy) of Pine Level, NC, Irma (Kenneth) of Selma, NC, Mary (Thurman) of Pine Level, NC, Matthew (Kathy) of Miami, FL, Sherry (Steven W.) of Wilson Mills, NC, Major of the home and Milton (Shelia) of Knightdale; seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, on great great grandchild, and five granddaughters-in-law; two sisters, Mrs. Goldie Jones of Columbia, SC and Pastor Delois Brown (Larry) of Clayton, SC; three brothers, Apostle Clarence Richardson (Joyce) of Clinton, MD, James Richardson (Sandra) of Blythewood, SC, Minister John Milton Richardson (LuElla) of Lancaster, SC; on brother-in-law, Permanent Deacon Robert Price (Josephine) of Wallace, NC; four sisters-in-law, Beatrice Price of Georgia, Doris Faye Spence Richardson of Raleigh, NC and Hazel Hockday of Columbia, SC and a host of very special nieces and nephews, adoptive daughter, LaVern Williams of Clayton, NC and adoptive son, Hubert Brooks of Selma, NC and other relatives and friends.
