Michael Wayne Hipps

Michael W Hipps, 56, passed away unexpectedly February 5, 2020 at his residence in Smithfield, North Carolina. Born July 1, 1963 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mike graduated from Roth High School in 1982 and served in the US Marines from 1983 to 1990, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal. Mike was a long-time resident of Henrietta, New York, recently moving to North Carolina to be close to his grandson. He was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather.

Preceded in death by his mother Alice Heath, step-father Karl Heath and sister Holly Ann Hipps. He is survived by his father Larry Hipps, children Sarah (Shawn) Lyons, Kevin Hipps, Christopher Hipps, grandson Landon Lyons, sister Shannon (Timothy) Sutton, brothers Bill (Patty) Humphries, Kevin Heath, Brian (Carolyn) Heath, George (Karen) Heath, Chuck Stewart, Karl (Lori) Heath, Dan Stewart, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Mike will be missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Military Funeral Honors Service on Saturday March 7th at 11am at the Sunset Memorial Park located at the Highway 70 and Highway 210 junction in Smithfield, NC. The Service will be followed by a Celebration of Life gathering from 12-4pm at the Country Inn & Suites located at 250 N Equity Drive, Smithfield, NC. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Honor Flight Network. Funeral services arranged by Sanders Funeral Home.
