Minnie Bertha Pierce, was born December 31st , 1922 to the late Johnny & Fancy Thomas Ports. She was born in Perkins, Ga. Minnie transitioned from this life on March 26th , 2019 and entered into the Master's Joy.
Minnie attended Jenkins High School in Ga. She worked for many years as a Nanny and was proud of working for Senator Hubert Humphrey who went on to be the 38th Vice President of the United States. After her work as a Nanny she devoted her time to her family as a homemaker.
Minnie's spiritual roots began early in life. Her and her family attended First McCoy Baptist Church where she was baptized as a young girl and became a member. Minnie's spiritual life's journey continued until her departure. She loved to read her Bible daily, morning , at 12:00 and at night. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23 which she recited each day. She enjoyed singing in the choir and loved gospel, quartet music.
While residing in North Carolina she attended her children's churches: Gospel City, Garner, NC, Ship of Zion Church, Raleigh NC, St. James Church of Christ, Middlesex, NC, Mt. Zion Church of Deliverance, Smithfield, NC and Cedar Grove, Princeton, NC.
Minnie is survived by her sister Beulah Allen of Miami, Fl.
She is proceeded in death by her late husband, Clinton Pierce.
She leaves to cherish her memory her eight children:
Isiah Ports (Barbara) of Philadelphia, Pa, Clinton Earl Pierce (Agnes) of Middlesex, NC, Johnnie Hardy Pierce & Sidney Leon Pierce both of Philadelphia, Pa, Sylvia Chikhi of the home, Smithfield, NC, Raymond Lee Pierce of Collingdale, Pa , Rev. Jacqueline P. Jones ( Rev. Christopher) of Raleigh, NC , Evalena P. Best ( Reginald) of Pikeville, NC. One step-son, Randy Williams. One special daughter (her Ruth) Sandra Pierce and a special great- niece , Corsia (Shawny) Avery, 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
