Celebrating Peggie Hodges
On Friday June 19, 2015, the road began to get rough and the
time was right. He stretched His hand and call Peggie home
saying "Come My Child You Have had enough." Peggie passed
peacefully from this life after a gradual decline in health. She
was surrounded and supported by her loving family and
caregivers during the last days of her life.
Peggie was born in Smithfield, N.C. on August 9, 1946 to the
late Hosea and Verdie Benjamin. She was preceded in death by
her beloved son, Ricky Hodges and sister, Annie Doris Session.
Peggie attended Short Journey School in Johnston County. In
1982, after raising her two children she moved to Wilson, N.C.
She joined Evening Light Holiness church in Wilson N.C. where
she accepted Christ as her Savoir. Due to her declining health,
Peggie return to Smithfield to live with her sister Brenda
Hodges, who devoted her unconditional love and time to care
for her.
Peggie had a great sense of humor. In her leisure time she
enjoyed, bingo, fishing, helping others, and spending time with
her grandchildren, family and friends.
Peggie leaves to cherish her loving memories; her daughter,
Glenda Evans of Smithfield NC; daughter in-law Marcie Hodges
of Clayton NC; four grandchildren, Katrice Evans, Marco Evans,
Ricky Hodges and Lakesha Hodges; and six great
grandchildren; Peggie is also survived by her brothers Hosea
Benjamin, Paul Benjamin (Gwen), and sisters Brenda Hodges,
Annie Brockington, and Barbara Benjamin of Smithfield NC.
One Uncle, Kilby Merritt of Clayton NC a host of Nephews,
Nieces, relatives, and friends. A Very Special and Dear friend,
