Rachel Chardey Lee was born to the late Carlton Thomas Lee and Robin Lynette Williams Lee, in New Brunswick, NJ on October 15, 1985.
Rachel received her elementary education in Somerset, NJ and her later education in Rosedale, MD. She graduated with honors from Johnston Adult High School Diploma program at Johnston Community College in Smithfield, NC. Rachel attended several Community Colleges where she obtained various skills and certificates in the Health Care Industry.
Rachel relocated to Smithfield to care for her great-great Aunt Rachel, for whom she was named. During which time she also worked as an office employee at Helping Hands Home Care for Charles Forte and Dr. Phyllis Ethridge.
These skills led to her later employment as a Mental Health Technician at Strategic Behavioral Health Center and later at Holly Hills Hospital; where she made close connection with her co-workers and patients. She was a tenacious worker and earned the respect of her colleagues for her strong work ethic.
Rachel's other full-time job was raising her beautiful young daughters, Samara and Ashlee. Rachel had a kind, generous spirit. She left us so suddenly and will be sorely missed by family and friends.
She leaves to mourn: her children, Samara-Lee Louella Price and Ashlee Elysse Caruthers; her brother, Bryant Thomas Lee; her Mother, Robin L Williams Lee, her paternal grandmother, Lucille Lee, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins as well other close family and friends.
Family Acknowledgements:
Thank you, church family from First Missionary Baptist Church for your kindness to me and the girls. My church family continues to be so generous to us. Many joined me with praying for Rachel at her bedside, brought food, provided counsel and continuous prayers. Thank you. Our Rev. Walker-Smith and our First Lady gave baptism as well as prayers and support at her bedside.
Thank you, church family from Timothy Baptist Church, Baltimore, MD. My pastor, Terry McCullum Sr. , First Lady Tony, and my disciple sister Gwendolyn McCullum traveled to NC to offer prayers and support just a day after I found out about my daughter was seriously ill.
Thank you, my discipleship sisters, my in-laws, my brothers, sisters, friends, friends of friends (north, south, east, west), all that joined me in my prayers for the Father's help with my Rachel. Rachel's former spouse, Tyrone McCrae stayed with me as Rachel drew her last breath, holding her hand, praying with me.
To Rachel's work colleagues; thank you for your generosity with your prayers, time, money, PTO time donations, gifts and tributes. I am so grateful for your thoughtfulness. My heart was warmed by all the kind words about Rachel. I read notes from patients that thanked her for the positive impact on their lives.
Thank you to the hospital nurses and doctors that assisted us during Rachel's illness. Their expertise and compassion was richly appreciated.
Special thanks to the Sanders Funeral Home for their special care given during these very difficult days.
I believe that the Father answered our prayers and now I wait for him to reveal his plans for the future. I realize how blessed I am to have been given this special gift on October 15, 1985 and to be with her as she drew her finally breath on this earth to become whole again with the Father. I am comforted by the generosity and care from each of you. Thank you and may God Bless.
