Rematha Williams Newsome, daughter of the late Thomas and Essie Williams, was born on January 15, 1931 in Greene County, North Carolina. She departed her earthly life on August 28, 2018 at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by one sister, Emma Nell Shirley and two brothers, Marvin Lee Williams and Thomas Earl Williams. Rematha received her formative years of education in Greene County Schools. She had a passion for quilting and gardening in her spare time. Rematha was a faithful member of Paul's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church for many years until her health failed and the Eureka Chapter #480 OES. She leaves to cherish precious memories: her husband, Emerson Newsome of Goldsboro, NC; her daughter, Linda Williams Shirley of Wilson, NC; three grandchildren, Daryll Williams, Sr., whom she reared of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Marilyn Murray of Pembroke Pines, FL and Renatha Shirley of Wilson, NC; four great grandchildren, Daryll Williams, Jr., whom she reared of Wilson, NC, Debrisha French and Destini Godfrey, both of Pembroke Pines, FL and Rontavious McLaurin of Wilson, NC; two great-great grandchildren, DeMarcus French and Javarie Williams; two nieces, Yvette Chandler (Danny) of Miramar, FL and Patricia Isler of Fort Myers, FL; two nephews, Bernard Isler (Pearl) of Hollywood, FL and James Isler (Brenda) of Rocky Mount, NC; four aunts, Odell Johnson, Montee Bryant and Inez Washington, all of Baltimore, MD and Blanche Barnes of Wilson, NC; two godchildren, Hattie Mae Jones of Snow Hill, NC and Dorothy Jenkins of Wilson, NC and a host of other relatives and friends including several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
