Born to Joseph and Mary Brown on August 6, 1952, in South Plainfield, New Jersey. He was the sixth of 9 children. He is the youngest of all the siblings now, Eddie, George, Ophelia, and Tyrone proceeded him in death. He grew up in an area where there were farms, he always talked about being able to pick fruits and vegetables without going to the store. Richard was an adventurous child who often took things apart and put them back together. He was a teen and young adult who loved to hang out with his Dad fixing different things. Taking things apart and putting them back together was a favorite pastime, it was sometimes a success and other times a disaster. His adventurous side paid off as a young adult and throughout his life. He worked some factory jobs but soon grew tired of working for someone else. He purchased a couple of multi-family homes, became a landlord, fashion model, had a fast-food restaurant, general store owner, and a car dealer. He enjoyed teaching his young nieces, nephews, and any young person who would listen and learn! He didn't have a high school diploma but was very talented. He didn't mind learning new skills and would learn how to do something before paying too much money. He could do electrical work, auto mechanic, painting, carpenter, roofing, air conditioning, plumbing, You Name It! His favorite saying was "unbelievable." He enjoyed, laughing, joking around, listening to political shows, today's social events, and spending time with his family. One of his hobbies was cars, he was knowledgeable and had many types during his life, starting at an early age. He never met a stranger! On many of his jobs, he formed friendships and lifetime relationships. In October 2017 he and his wife Leslie moved to North Carolina! He finally purchased his dream home, enjoyed fixing up the outside, inside, and spending time with his dog "FeeFee" We will miss him very much but there is no more suffering and pain. He leaves behind his wife Leslie of 27 years, Sisters: Delores, Sarah, Inez, Doris and Brothers: Andrew; Glenwood and Wain. Children: Richard Jr., LaTonya, Inneke, Shannon and Dana. Many grandchildren (19) and great grandchildren (17). A host of other family and friends. A very special thanks to Beckton Dickerson coworkers, the ICU nursing and other hospital staff at UNC Johnston Healthcare of Clayton, and Valerie and Kevin Smith.
