Robert Earl Sanders entered his eternal rest at Johnston Health Hospital in Clayton, NC on March 26, 2018. He was born on September 1,1953 in Boone, Hill, NC to the late Alphonzia and Ruth Covington Sanders of Selma NC. Robert received his education in the Johnston County School System where he attended Short Journey and South Johnston High School. Shortly after, he worked in Roofing where he received the knowledge and skills to become self employed, working along with his oldest brother Alphonzia Eugene Sanders Jr. at Sanders Brothers Roofing Co. He later went into business with his younger brother Ronnie Sanders creating Sanders Home Improvement, which he worked until his health declined. Robert was anointed to play the guitar (bass), keyboard, and loved drag racing with a passion at the Dunn- Benson Dragstrip. He loved mechanic work, and could build and crank (start) a motor right on the living room floor of his home, which he did many times until just before his passing. Robert was proceeded in death by his son, Edward Eugene Sanders; his daughter, Kimberly Ryals Stancil; one brother, Alphonzia Sanders Jr.; and three sisters, Phyllis Sanders Jackson, Ollie Thomas, and Pearline Jones. Robert leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Harnetha Sanders; five sons, Linwood Ryals of Dunn, NC, Robert Ryals (Kay) of Lucama NC, Mark Sanders of the home, Bruce Sanders of Newton Grove, NC, Ronald Sanders of Benson, NC; Six daughters Wanda Ryals (Mike) of Dunn, NC, Karen Robinson (Jim) of Lillington, NC, Tina Smith (Lorenzo) of Selma, NC, Melonie Covington (Billy) of Benson, NC, Robin Sanders of Raleigh NC, and Hayleigh Sanders of Durham, NC; one sister Evelyn Dawson (William) of Georgia; three brothers, Ronald Sanders (Della) of Selma, NC, Milton Sanders (Melinda) of Raleigh, NC, and Bruce Sanders (Linda) of Benson, NC; 37 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; his best and most faithful friend, Billy Farmer and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
