Roderick Jermaine Dunston was born to Willie E. (Pee Wee) Dunston, Jr. and Constance Stephens Dunston on July 17, 1972, in Smithfield, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Monday February 26th, 2018.
Roderick was a 1991 graduate of Clayton High School Clayton, North Carolina, where he was a member of the band. After graduating, he attended North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, North Carolina. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He later moved to Maryland and worked for 21 years as a referee for high school and college basketball games. Roderick also worked as a project manager for the federal government for a number of years.
In 2010, Roderick founded the "Roderick Dunston Foundation" to promote healthy hearts and stroke awareness.
Cherishing memories of Roderick are: his parents, Willie E. (Pee Wee) and Constance Dunston of Clayton, NC; two sons, Deonte Dunston of California and Jordan Roderick Dunston of Maryland; one brother, Marcus Dunston of Clayton, NC; a maternal grandfather, James Stephens (Jeanette) Washington of DC; one god-mother, Elder Pamela McClamb, Durham, NC; one god-sister, Ashley Richardson (Chad) of Clayton, NC; a best friend, Jerel Williams of Smithfield, NC; 8 aunts; 8 uncles; 8 great-aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
