Ruth Agnes Davis Lucas was born was born to the late Reverend Thomas Jefferson and Mrs. Ina Mitchell Davis in Clayton, North Carolina on June 24, 1941. She transitioned to her heavenly home on March 28, 2015 in Smithfield, North Carolina at the SECU Hospice house.
She joined Mount Vernon Christian Church at an early age. She was a member of the junior choir and was a faithful Sunday School member. She attended Mount Vernon Christian Church until her health failed.
Ruth was educated in the Johnston County School system. She was a 1959 graduate of William Mason Cooper High School in Clayton, North Carolina. She furthered her education at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina, graduating in 1964. She received a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics and taught school in Yanceyville and Elm City, North Carolina for a number of years.
Ruth had a quiet spirit and a pleasant smile. She enjoyed playing bingo and dippin her Tube Rose snuff.
She was preceded in death by four brothers Thomas Davis, Jr., Talton C. Davis, Wilotha Davis, Sr. and Lewis Abraham Davis and one sister Lula Mae Davis Johnson.
The cherishing memories of Ruth are a devoted nephew Wilotha Davis, Jr. (Judy) of Fuquay Varina, NC and a devoted niece Ms. Johnathan B. Davis of Clayton, NC; two brothers, John W. Davis (Bettie) of Clayton, NC and William C. Davis (Hazel) of Durham, NC; one sister-in-law Mary Jiles Davis of Wake Forest, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
I Will See You Again
The sun shall rise, and sure to set. Her time ahs come, have no regret.
Her life she lived, we sure all know. A better place she has to go.
Rejoice today it's at an end. And she will see us, once again.
