Shantel Renee Cabiles Williams

July 15, 1963 — September 19, 2020

Shantel Renee Cabiles-Williams was born on July 15, 1963, in Honolulu, HI to the late Bernard Cabiles and Mary Lau Cabiles. Shantel was the youngest girl of her siblings. She was an alumna of Waianae High School and graduated with the class of 1981. She was very proud to be a seasider however, there was no secret that her three girls were her greatest accomplishments in life. She met the love of her life in Hawaii, who is a former marine, Rodney Williams Sr. who had a son which then turned her family of four into a loving family of six. She and Rodney built a new life in North Carolina in the early 1990s.
Some of her many talents that she was recognized for was her crafting, cooking, and most of all, her angelic singing voice. Shantel became a grandma for the first time in 2004 and quickly grew to become a "mammaw" to 12 grandchildren. There was nothing that filled her with more joy than to be with them.
In August 2018 Shantel was diagnosed with Stage III Pancreatic Cancer, but if you knew her, you knew she would not go down without a fight. Doctors told her the average lifespan of someone with this diagnosis lives anywhere from 6 months to a year. She had her tumor removed in September of 2018, and after a couple of months, cancer had spread to other organs. Shantel took some time to do as many of the things her heart desired while also enduring her treatments. In 2019 she was able to go back home to Hawaii to visit her family and friends, she went to Disney World with her eldest grandchild and her nephew's family, and she and Rodney renewed their vows after 30 years of marriage in Vegas.
Shantel lived a life full of love and laughter regardless of her circumstances. She always told everyone to live every day to the fullest, to love everyone unconditionally, and always lend a helping hand to someone in need. Her spirit will live on in those whose hearts and lives she has touched.
Shantel is survived by her husband Rodney Williams Sr, her children Brenda and her husband David Smith, Tiahna and Nicole Kempton, and Rodney Williams Jr. Her grandchildren Jordan, Madison, David, Jackson, Faith, Aniya, Rodney III, Isabella, Bryson, Aubrey, Alanna, and Arianna. Her siblings Debra Chock, Rocky Cabiles, Kenneth Cabiles, Lori Cabiles, Brenda Garcia, and Dean Cabiles. Shantel also leaves behind a host of nephews and nieces as well as friends.
