Susan Beckwith Pettiway

Susan Beckwith Pettiway was born on March 3, 1939 to the late Clementine Beckwith and Lucy Hasting Beckwith in Wilson County, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Pettiway. God called her home on November 22, 2019.

Susan graduated from Spring Hope High School in Spring Hope, North Carolina. She worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor for many years.

Susan lived her life with faith and authenticity. She will be joyfully remembered by her loving children Michelle Pettiway-Lavender of Sims, North Carolina, Lisa Pettiway of Raleigh, North Carolina, Daphne (Bryan) Deck of Smithfield, North Carolina, Samantha Pettiway of Middlesex, North Carolina, and Lamont (Mellissa) Pettiway of Micro, North Carolina. Grandchildren: Aprielle Pettiway, Ashley Becerra, Brandon Richardson, Kortez (Antoinella) Washington, Tevin Pettiway, Devin Pettiway, Korneshia Pettiway, Candice Moore, Dymon Walker, Xavier Deck, Isaiah Deck, Deja Bumpers, LaMya Pettiway, Darius Pettiway, and Tyller Crosby; Great Grandchildren: Elijah Pettiway, Roosevelt Pettiway, Sydni Washington, and Selah Washington; one sister, Mary Beckwith Prevette; and a host of nieces and nephews.


God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be. So He wrapped his arms around you, and whispered, "come to me."
You didn't deserve what you went through, so He gave you rest.
God's garden must be beautiful. He only takes the best. And when I saw you sleeping, so peacefully and free from pain,
I could not wish you back to suffer that again.

Family will receive visitors at the address listed below (from 1pm until 8pm on Saturday & Sunday; and from 6pm until 8pm on Monday through Friday).
