A Celebration of Life of Thomas Walter Thorne 

Thomas Walter Thorne was born on February 7, 1973, in Raleigh, North Carolina to James Thorne and the late Paulette Morgan Thorne. He departed this life surrounded by his family on January 9, 2025, at Johnston UNC Health, Smithfield NC. 

Thomas was proud graduate of Smithfield Selma High class of 1992. Thomas worked at Flanders in Smithfield as a machine operator but was a jack of all trades. He loved working with his hands and held jobs as a roofer, bricklayer, and carpenter. He had many titles in his life, but loved being called fiancé, father, grandfather, big brother, and uncle. Thomas loved nothing more than his family and enjoyed spending time with all of them.

He was a lifelong sports fan and had much love for his Carolina Tarheels. On gameday, he would call everyone up to talk his junk and cheer on his team, win or lose he was a Tarheel for life. ESPN would play all day during football and basketball season whether he was looking at the games or not. Thomas also loved music of all genres but loved old school hip hop more. It was nothing for him to share the latest music from his playlist with his family, especially a song that brought back an old memory or touched his heart. 

Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved mother whom he missed so much, Paulette Morgan Thorne and a nephew Kaiden Barajas-Thorne. 

Thomas leaves to cherish his memories, fiancé’ Sharon Watson, Selma NC, sons, Isiah Watson of the home, Devonta Thorne, of Selma NC, and Jamarion Davis of Four Oaks and daughters Neveah Lewis of Clayton, and Cierra Watson of Selma. Sisters, Michelle Bridges (Kelly) of Clayton NC., Shonda Monk (Ronald) of Four Oaks, NC and brother Patrick Thorne of Selma, NC, and best friend Walter Taylor, Aunts; Helen Thorne, Benson NC, Alice Thorne Smithfield NC, Bertha Thorne and Emma Thorne, Bunn NC, Uncles, Jimmy Thorne and McCray Thorne of Bunn, NC and eight grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
