Tommie D. Sanders was one seven children born to the late Joe and Swanie Sanders on September 29, 1943. He departed this life on Friday January 19, 2018 also preceded him in death is his parents the late Joe & Swanie Mae Sanders, one daughter Mamie Sanders. He attended Short Journey School in Johnston County, NC. He relocated to Washington, DC in 1968. He worked at Hot Shop restaurant Fairfield food service for 30years and Walmart until his illness.
Today we pay tribute to the precious life of our Father, Grandfather, brother, Uncle and friend.
Tommie D. love his family his siblings always said that he was the hard headed one out of Mama and daddy children. He enjoyed spending time at family's gathering, he really loved hanging with his little brother Larry and sister Lois and he loved his NC BBQ, Brightleaf Hotdogs and Grapes.
His memory will be forever cherish in the hearts of: his three loving children, Antonio Sanders, Marquis Ellis(Jamiliah), and Tinicia Braxton all of Washington, DC; eight grandchildren, Aaniyah Ryals, Antonio Sanders Jr., Kayla Ellis, Kareen Ellis, Kristopher Ellis, Joshua Braxton, and Beautiful Braxton; one brother, Larry Sanders; five sisters, Shirley Archibald, Marie Latlon(James) Mattie Hall, Ora Mae Sanders, and Lois Bas; one aunt, Lizzie Gillis; two life-long friends, Jean Sanders and Lenora Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
