Mr. Wade Vinson, 84, of Smithfield, NC died on Tuesday, February 04, 2014 at Wake Med in Raleigh, NC.
Reflections of Life:
Mr. Wade Cecil Vinson, was born May 17, 1929 in Johnston County, North Carolina to the late Wade and Louise Vinson. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Timothy and Fulton McLeod, and one sister, Annie Lee Frazier.
Cecil grew up in Long Branch Disciples of Christ Church. In later years he joined St. Peter's Church of Christ Disciples of Christ Church, where he remained until his death. Cecil was educated at Johnston County Training School, afterwards he served a 14 year career in the U.S. Army. Upon leaving the military he went to Compton, Ca. Community College where he received his electrician and mechanic certification. For many years he worked at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Cecil loved his neighborhood, friends and most of all, his family. He was a giant in the eyes of many and he will forever be missed as the mayor of Belmont.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 39 years Mary; three sons, Anthony Wade (Berta) of Conyers, GA; Bryan Devon of Oxford, NC; Brandon Cecil of the home; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren; three daughters; Janice Gray of Stone Mountain, GA; Malinda Lawrence of Lithonia, GA; Lois Williams of Kenly, NC; one brother, Troy (Jessie) of Greensboro, NC and two sisters, Helen Vinson of Smithfield, NC, Dorothy Jean (Maurice) Sanders of Washington, D.C.; his sister-in-laws: Lucy of Washington, D.C., Lina (Lehman) of Raleigh, NC; Virginia (Rudy) of Smithfield, NC, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
